Default GT2-3 Cam is in and....(problems)-Please help!!

I installed the GT2-3 cam, ls6 oil pump, ls2 timing chain, and ls6 valve springs this weekend. We ran into some hang ups, but we got everything completed.

My problem is this;

I have a periodic ticking sound coming from the engine. It will get loud and then go away, not sure what it could be. I have driven the truck over 400 miles with no loss in perfromance(had to drive home from place of installation and tuning). It doesnt matter the temperature either, it usually does it when its hot. It gets louder with rpm's.

Any thoughts/suggestions??

I torqued the rockers down to 22ft lbs of torque. I made sure all the rockers, bolts, and pushrods went back into the same location.

What would cause that? With only 43k on the odometer?

does the ticking frequency increase with rpm?

did you use locktight on the rocker studs?

The ticking noise does increase with rpm, I did not use locktight.

Do you think they could have backed out?

They are notorious for doing that with aftermaket cams, the jackass who did my swap didnt use locktight and they flopped around enough to put some good gashes underside of the valve covers. Its easy enough to check.

I would suggest re-torquing them all just to make sure they're all at spec. I'll bet you find one rocker that got missed, done incorrectly, or backed out.

Thanks for the helps guys. I will be pulling off my valve covers in a couple of hours and re-torquing and applying loc-tight.

But, would that explain the noise coming and going?

Did the noise come from the top or bottim of the motor when the rockers were loose?

Yes. The noise can come and go with the heat or load of the engine parts.
