Angry Grrrrr.......Cam install part 2

Finally got ready to pull the cam and what do you know....the lifters are not seating in the keepers . Damn....I'm not pulling heads for this. Any ideas? Anyone make or know where I can get a set of pen magnets to drop down in the pushrod sleeves?

Walmart according to this.

Pen magnet method
If you don't have the tool in option 1, the next best thing is to go buy 16 retractable pen magnets from Walmart/AutoZone/wherever you can find them. The heads on the magnets need to be small as the opening to get to the lifter is a little less than 1/2" in diameter.

thunder racing has a tool i believe that you slide in the block that holds the lifters....or pen magnets from autozone but that's gonna cost ya close to 40 bucks probably....look on ebay there was a set on there like a week ago. i think it's just another sign that your destined to be the slow4.8 forever.

Looks like the truck will be down a few more days then. I'm going to give Thunder a call. This thing has been a pain in my *** from day one. First the crank bolt...today, broke 3-8mm 3/8 sockets on one rocker bolt. Sears was the only one I found that had 6 sided sockets...only in 1/4" though. Damn Craftsman tools are the best!...now the lifters. I checked with a pushrod, and there is no way I'm going with method 3. Besides, I'd like to have the tool since this won't be the first and I'll be able to help some others with theirs. I even let the truck sit for 3 days to let the oil drop into the pan. Live and learn.

Thanks guys!

slow4.8 is taken Matt guess I'll have to be "No Cam Changing 4.8"

See my post in the other cam thread on the JPR tool:

https://ls1tech.com/forums/showpost....8&postcount=10

Do a search in the internal section on the JPR tool. Other have had the same isue. There are some folks who say just buy a 1/4" aluminum dowel rod, as it works just as good. I can't say yes or no on this trick.
