Default Got some parts in.

Just bored and decided to post, check my homepage at CarDomain for my mods. Then post me how stupid I am for my cheap mods!

Oh, and by the way, thanks you guys for all the tips and info and advice. Finally started to feel like I am getting something done now. To bad it has taken me 2 months with the truck before I could get some mods done! Just about another year to get the charger, and a new tranny to handle it!

Just curious. How did your Goodyears end up riding? Do they feel square in the mornings? Do they have that "bouncing basketball" ride?

You know, they feel just like the stock tires, just a more planted and stable at speed. They do seem a little stiff at first in the morning, but after a mile or two, they feel fine. I also noticed on bumps that they hit a little harder than the stock tires, actually quite impressed on how they ride. I was expecting bone jarring ride!

Hey hodgeee. Do we have LS1 type engines in 03 silervado's. I heard something about LQ9's. I thought thats what we had in these new trucks but after reading you web site. I'm confused about the engine type.

Now its still an LS1 block, but maybe LQ9 is another nomenclature of the vehicle. I have looked at quit a few of these trucks, and cannot see any difference in our blocks or heads than the other vehicles!

Hey Hodgee do you have any pics of the Hotchkis front and rear sways on your truck? Did you install them yourself?

Im planning to put a set on my 03 soon so if you have any tips I would appreciate it.

Also how easy was the thermostat mod? Did you have to use a new gasket after you put on the new thermo? Did you loose alot of coolant and have to add some?
I also have a thermo I got from Tbyrne with my Predator, just havent installed it yet.

No, I ain't got any, but if you want, I'll take some pics. The install is way too easy. Only two holes to drill in the frame for the rear swaybar, and the front is a unbolt the old, and bolt right up the new. Easy swap, just don't tighten down anything on the front bar until you get everything put on, then torq it down. I had a hard time with the endlinks, until I loosened everthing. The rear bolts into an opening in the frame already, then you have to drill two holes.

The thermostate is easy, just two bolts, and it uses a rubber o-ring. The thermo comes with a new rubber o-ring. You will have to drain the system entirely, and don't overtighten the two bolts. It's a bitch to get the thermostate off of the hose, had to use a small screwdriver to loosen it, and pry it off.

As a tip, when refilling the system, detach the upper hose where it connects to the radiator, and fill the system from there, until it won't take any more water. I used 1 gallon of coolant, and the rest distilled water, by filling by the upper tube, it will prevent air bubbles in the block, and you won't have to rev the motor up and down as much to get all the air out of the system.

It really is just a simple read and do of the directions.
