Default Got my new truck

I just bought a 01 Extra cab step side GMC 1500 with a 5.3. I want to put some exhaust on it. I am looking for a loud mean sound. I am considering either the Gibson exteme dual or a super truck, wich one of these is going to be the loudest? or is there a better setup i should consider that might could be done at a muffler shop around my town?
Thanks i have done a search on here but could not really find any info i could use.

i run a 3in from the y back to a 3in in/3in out 40 series flowmaster
its pretty loud, some other members run magnaflow, and dynomax.

fast4.8 i believe runs 2.5in duals with an x pipe and magnaflows.... he also has headers though.

there are a couple recent topics dealing with exhaust though.

if you did a search and found nuthin you did something wrong.

there is so many different kinds of exaust you can do on these trucks its mindboggling.

i went with true duals with flowmaster 40 series mufflers. 2.25" pipes. if you go true duals dont' go bigger than 2.5". my suggestion is don't go with flowmasters either. very restrictive muffler and rasp is beginning to get on my nerves.

as far as catback goes, i can't really help you there. the only ones i've heard in person is flowmaster and corsa. the corsa sounded awesome. i think i remember someone saying if you go with gibson to get stainless not aluminized

If you don't want to spend much $$ then just have the local shop cut off your muffler, put a y in there and dual it out the back. A friend done that and it sounds pretty good. Kinda loud at WOT though, but if that's what you want then....

You can always just get a cut-out and run it open all the time, that will be plenty loud. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

john, i like my exaust setup (sounds just like yur description) but i'm looking for something with a little more rumble deep sound and not quite as...metallic i guess is the word i'd use. i can't afford to switch mufflers right now anyway so i'll live with it for a while.

paul4, flowmaster is the most restrictive performance muffler made because it uses chambers (at least this is my perception of it). something like magnaflow or borla with a straight through design would be less restrictive and they aren't annoyingly loud.
