Talking Got my cam...need a few more parts

Got a mild custom grind from Comp Cams: duration @ .050 206/212, Lift .515/.520, LSA 114. It's their 206/212 with a 114 LSA as opossed to 112. Didn't want anything crazy, it's my daily driver and I really want that low end and don't want to do a torque converter and too much tuning. Also got new push rods, retainers, keepers, and springs are on back order.

Still have to get gaskets, crank bolt etc...but I can only afford a bit at a time. This cam's going in a 99 5.3 rcsb Z71 with the common bolt ons... K&N FIPK, Gibson shorties, Gibson dual outlet cat back w/ 2.5 pipes and 3.5" tips, and a home made catch can. Bone stock otherwise except for exterior add-ons.

Ordered a helmet too soo I can go down to the track and do some before and after runs. (My pop races every weekend, has an 81 Malibu with a best time of 9.9 at 137mph with this girl named Rosie driving it....oh yea, the engine is a 400 Motown block worked out 406 bolted up to a powerglide, not sure what gears in the rear) ....Gonna be my first time....pretty psyched!

That should do you just fine. A lot of guys go for the 212/218 and say they like it, but I wonder how many of them have a proper truck cam to compare it against. You lose low end when you start going over 206/212....

Our stock LM7 cam is a 190/191, .466/.457, 114, so the cam you got is a nice improvement. Myself, I think I'm going either with a 208/214 or 206/212, except with .540 to .550 lift on a 115. Together with my blower, that should be a good combo.

Good luck, keep us posted on the car and the races....

scoggin dickey has a gasket kit for under 50 bucks, and it comes with a crank bolt.
everything you need to do a cam swap on an LS1 motor.

Awesome! Thanks a million 01 Thunder! Maybe I'll be able to get started on this thing sooner than planned. Still have to make the time. I'll keep you guys posted as things move along. These forums are sooo helpful and informative.
