i read about someone doing an egr mod, and they drill a tiny hole in the plate that blocked it, so it didnt throw a codel.. it just let in alot less exhaust.

probably b/c your comparing the 1/8 to the 1/4 mile. Its like when someone runs a 7.4 on the 1/8. doesn't mean he'll run a 14.8 on the 1/4. He'll probably end up runnin an 11 sec 1/4. It probably has somethin to do w/ the extra weight causes for slower acceleration.

Think about as your car starts off with less hp as you begin to move. you kno like on a dyno graph, hp goes up and up. Well, that extra weight is makin it harder for you to get movin and by that time the 1/8 is already over. but once your truck starts haulin *** hittin 80+ the hp and tq are still buildin makin you faster and faster and then you've ran your 1/4.

say your g/f does way 100 lbs. she may slow it down .3 in the 1/8 but probably the .1 for every 100 lbs. stays true in the 1/4...

well i'd like you to kno all of what i just said was bs
thought i'd give it a shot tho

later

I got him off the line maybe 2 feet and when he shifted into 2nd, he jumped way in front big time.

Don't really matter I guess, as I am saving up for a swap. Ls1 or ls6, hopefully ls6 from a newer corvette, 02 hopefully with a nice custom tune.

And he hasn't got anything new for his truck either. But say the extra gas and passenger is enough for say .4 difference in the 1/4th mile, about how many car lengths would that be?

I am just upset that the gears and posi with installation nailed me pretty hard in the pocket book for me to get killed by a stocker, even with the extra weight I was carrying lol.

Gibbs6, Did you notice a gain swapping from 3.42 to 3.73 because thats what I'm in the process of doing and just wondering the gains. I've been told about a .3-.4 difference in e.t.

@ 80 mph = 120' per sec.,your probably running closer to 90 so .4 sec = over 50' , about 3 truck lengths.
Gears and Locker only help at launch and I'm sure they helped you, however
a 1/2 sec. advantage is easy to lose. Late shift, early shift,80k how are you plugs?

gmc5.3L, I noticed quite a bit of difference rolling around in first and the get up in go. With my smaller diameter tires than stock the 3.73's were a bit over 3.90's and will be soon higher at my next tire purchase as I am going smaller.

TnTrk53, thanks for the post, makes me feel a bit better. I talked to him today and said we need to try again with close to same amount in tank and no passengers and he agreed. On my plugs, Im not sure, probably not to good as I have not messed with them since I recieved the truck around this time last year. I have thought about putting some new ones in but never got around to it. Which ones do you suggest?

I havent told what happened, but i constantly jumped to about half a truck length to one truck on him once we were even on gas and no passengers.

I am eyeing a Ls6 swap right now so it should be all over for him pretty soon hopefully LOL.

kinda like getting rid of the EGR but not.

My bosses kid works for a stainless place, I'm going to get a gasket and see if he can make me a plate out of 1/8" stainless. drill the holes and it'll be easy to remove and reinstall for emissions testing
