Default Got a GRAND need a PLAN

New at this. Have an 04 5.3L 2WD EXT CAB. Added a drop in K&N air filter and from the single stock exhaust I added a Magnaflow w/dual 2.5" pipes. I'd like to change the filter, exhaust and madebe add nos, I also used Hypertech for a tune and I'm good with that for now. Give me some ideals on what might be the best products or componets to get the best in performance for my money.

Here are a few things I would suggest, Custom tune, pacesetter lt's, gears, stall transgo, servo, or nitrous. I know you can't get them all but in my opinion any of those would be good things to start with. I kind of like to go ahead and do drivetrain first and have that part ready so when you do put more power to it it will be able to handle it.

IF it were me and all I had was $1000 to start I would:

Ditch the Hypertech for a custom tune (Sell HPT III on ebay and get your money back)
Custom Tune
Wet Kit

For a grand you can add 100-150hp. If you don't have a G80 (limited slip differential) then you may want to look at getting an Eaton and gears before the N2O, otherwise you just have a 100hp smoke show with one tire.

I'm curious as to how much of nitrous could I run in the stock 5.3 w/ true dual flomasters and how fast would it be in the 1/4?

I read on here about 100 shots all the time. I bet you could to 150 and if you feel like taking a risk 200. Do a search in the nitrous forum and you can read more about it.

Dont go any higher than 150, that is pushing it. A 100 or 125 wet shot would be a safe bet. But, there are a lot of things you should do first that were mentioned above, plus some: stall, shift kit, vette servo, custom tune, long tube headers, ditch the slowmasters and put something with a straight through design on and some plug wires too(they dont give you a noticable gain, just better spark. Then start with the bigger performance stuff like cam swap, forced induction, or N2o...... just my .02...

I purchased my GM NX wet kit on ebay a year and half ago, complete with bottle, bottle heater, lines, sylonoids, wiring, WOT switch, shark nozle, and pills for 300.00 on ebay. I installed it myself and it wasnt that hard. If your gonna push 100 shot, make sure you use the NGK-TR6 sparkplugs and monitor your fuel system to make sure you dont run lean or rich or you will slowly destroy your motor with out knowing it. I also say ditch the flo masters if you are looking for performance, go with magnalflow or anything that is not chambered. shop around and I bet you will have enough left over for a nice tune.

I ran 100hp dry shot, with most of the same mods as you, and a converter, and went 13.4x in the quarter. I still have and use my Hypertech.
