I plan to order my tune tomorrow I hope. My question is right now I have no cats stock manifolds and a single 3 inch I/O 14" Mangaflow turned down before the axle. At around 2kish rpms there is a popping sound. I was hoping for more of a F body sound. Would taking the single pipe over the axle help give me the sound I want or should I consider a different muffler......no Flowmasters for me, maybe even a resonantor. Only thing with a resonantor is adding restriction. I was going for more of a muscular sound and got more of a play Freebird while smoking a Marlboro red (redkneckish straight pipe) sound. Thanks for the help guys.

It is awhole louder. Almost too loud, I am thinking about doing something to make it a little quiter. At idle it is what I wanted, around 2k to 3500 it isn't what I wanted at all. I am going to try and get rid of the turn down at the axle and run it out the back. If that doesn't do the trick then I will add a resonator or a little longer muffler.

Honestly, I'd do like GarnerZ said. Order a Dynomax Bullet muffler and use it as a resonator in front of the magnaflow. You can get them in 12" long or 18" long, I'd personally go 12". I just don't know that extending the pipe and losing the dump is going to help much if its that loud.

Oh ok well if adding that would help then I might do that. I like the idea because it is straight through. Has anyone else tried that and it done the trick? Mainly what I am wanting to eliminate is the popping sound and the straight pipe sound at around 2000 to 3500. Anywhere else it sounds really good, the reason that I think loosing the dump would help is the exhaust wouldn't be trapped under the truck anymore. It would be able to go all the way out the back. Every since I got the exhaust I have a vibration in the rear wall, but I am not sure if it is because the rear seat has been replaced with 2 bucket seat.

the glasspack style mufflers work very well as a resanator. i run two 24" as resanators and then two 12" as the actual exhaust on my audi a4 and it sounds great, and believe it or not there is ZERO poping just a rumble, sporty sound, not loud just "clean" sound. .02

On my old 86 chevy with the 5.7L v8 i had true duals without cats through 2 14" magnaflows dumped underneath the truck......it was the best sounding exhaust i have ever heard....maybe consider going through duals to split up the sound a bit???? or like everyone is saying find a strait through glass pack to add into the line.
