i recently put this 408 together. it started out life as a 03 SSS Lq9. i ran the motor for about 8500 miles with a torquer 2 cam and 11.1 cr. ran well for being hurt. i sold it to a good buddy of mine and we installed a Trex in it. car was a total beast but had a smoking issue. well finally i tore it down for him and found out 1 piston was melted and most of the cylinder walls were scored. in this condition and a car with driver that weight in around 3900lbs went 11.8 back in april with temps in the mid 80s that day.

now here what it is now
its a fully forged Eagle stroker with diamond pistons. the SCR of this motor is 11.5. it has stage 2 livernois LS6 heads on it, LS7 lifters, PRC dual springs, Thunder racing Trex cam [ 242/248 608/612 110 lsa ] Ls6 intake for now, ported Tb, 160 stat, SLP 25% underdrive pulley, all ARP hardware including crank bolt. it will be going in a 2002 black camaro SS backing this up is a T56 with a moser 12 bolt with 456 gears. exhaust consist of pacesetter 1 3/4 Lts ORY into SLP loudmouth for now. over winter setup will be true duals with an X and fast 90/90. SVO 42s sit inside the fuel rail. Comp cams 7.4 hardend pushrods, Rollmaster double roller TC, ported 6.0/LS6 oil pumpall assembly was done by myself.it also has spohn solid motor mounts and a poly trans mount along with full suspension on the camaro. car is a full leather SS with AC and everything
block is red, valve covers are red and the heads i did a slight polish on them to help with shine, i also painted and cleard the LS6 intake, im going to make this motor full SD same as my 408 is. going to use a 85mm lid and try and fab up a 4" tubing for the air intake setup...

Looking good, stepping to the 90/90 and stepped 2" header will help that baby breathe. Was it stock bore when piston melted? Keeping it n/a?
