absolutely.

I have a '94 with a 350 and that thing flies now (it can easily take a stock 5.3L in a race).

I had headers, true dual 2.5" with no crossover (i know, bad bad), jet stage II power chip, reduced friction roller rockers, and a computer compatible compucam. I was going to add vortec heads, but then I got my '02 Silverado.

If you are looking for quick and easy power:

cheap: Vortec heads and long tubes
good: Vortec heads, long tubes, 250º or so cam, power chip
better: Vortec heads, long tubes, cam, MPFI
best : all that **** besides MPFI and install a blower.

I put an open element air filter and a throttlebody spacer on mine and moved the IAT sensor to te firewall. It was pretty cheap and made a differance. It was on my 90 Silverado not my truck in the sig. Good Luck

The TBI motors had a few major power hidenering problems.

1. They Probally had the worst flowing heads ever put on a SBC (swirl port made for fuel economy and low end torque)

2. The TB only flows around 460-500 CFM

3. Small camshaft

What I would do to get serious power is
Vortec heads
GMPP TBI intake or 4brl intake with adapter plate or Edelbrock MPFI
Holley 670 CFM TB or 454 TB (2" bore)
mild cam 208 - 220 duration (I don't know how big a cam the ECM can handle)
custom PROM
Headers of any kind are better then stock

There is a limit to what those motors can make. When I had mine I was told that the limit was around 330fwhp, I believe it. I had vortec heads, intake, throttle body, headers, cam, true duels, stall, ignition, and a 125 shot of juice. Those motors make low end torque and that is all they are good for. My motor loved juice, plus the NOS kit is a plate which will hit harder than a single fogger.
If I had to do it all over again. I would buy a Whipple, exhaust, and a small stall.

They maybe light on power but my 90 runs better then my 2001 The 90 has 140000 on it and I have never had the valve covers off.

Forget about winning indy with it. But I understand the stock LT4 cam is a very good upgrade with no ECM issues.
I have a 94blazer now to tweak on and I am planning a caprice replacment long block (cheap, reliable) and sliding in the LT4 cam. Should be good for 300hp and a good boost in tq over the stock engine. Not going crazy as it will most likely be my son's in a couple years.

i had one, i think blower is the best way to go. Otherwise you spend alot on little stuff and it still isn't quick.

Or you can go my way. Had a '93 SB with a 350 that had almost 200,000 miles on it.. Found a wrecked F-body with LT1 and put it in my truck with LT4 heads cam and intake, long tubes, dual flows and tune! Around $4500 spent on all that, cheap! Ran like bat outta hell! That's when I lived at home with mom and had money!
