Default good cam for towing?

my cousin has an 05' 4.8l sclb gmc, and is looking for a cam to get him some extra torque in the lower and mid range, as he tows his car (01' mustang gt) to and from the track on his open trailor, and is only looking for something around $200 or so, he doesnt want to spend too too much for the cam, any ideas?

Assuming an auto tranny, best bet for a towing cam in a 4.8L is the Comp 206/212, .522/.529....look for a used one. Any bigger than that in a 4800 and you'll start losing some low end.

Look at Vinci's website. They have some good torque cams.

you can find a used 01 z-06 cam with springs under that price. should be a noticeable upgrade.

Right, I forgot about stock GM cams, and the Lingenfelter...

2001-2002 LS6....204/211 .525/.525 116
Part# 12560950 $234 ($285 shipped from GMPD)

2002-2003 LS6....204/218 .555/.551 117.5
Part# 12565308 $234 ($285 shipped from GMPD)

Lingenfelter LS1….205/212 .540/.540 116.5
Part# LS1-GT2 $249 from LPE @ (260) 724-2552

Any one of those three would do very nicely. Don't forget you will have to get LS6 springs at minimum with any cam you get.
