Question Good cam for an LQ4

Please give me your feedback on a good cam. I am looking for one for the new motor going in. Keep in mind that this is not my DD. Just for some weekend fun. I would drive it to work a couple times a week but I work about a mile from my house. Mods are in my sig...

I'd get somethin in the 230s duration...something like the cam in my USG East Gate Operator would be pretty good

Eh.....you're going to fall into the same trap others have with the LQ4.....big cams and low compression does not work well.

I have heard about using my stock 5.3 heads to bump compression up. Is this true?

Yep. Get 2/1.55 valves and a competition valve job and throw them on. That's what Zippy did on his 6.0. He uses a TR224 cam and that thing moves (in a tahoe mind you, about 1000lbs more than your reg cab)
