To start I bought my truck about 3 months ago and went out and started getting mods before I researched them or found these forums I need some help from you guys on what you know about some of these [*]HPP3 figured this out myself sold it on ebay[*]Flowmaster muscle truck cat back I have read that Flowmasters do not get along with LS based engines I was considering keeping the cat back but replacing the muffler w/ a maganaflow?[*]Volant CAI w/ram air tube 2nd design about everthing I have read on these are negative which CAI has produced the best dyno numbers?[*]Granetilli Mass Air Sensor I have heard very little on these but I have one should it be taken off or left on?[*]TB spacer I have read also that in some trucks people have said these actually hurt performance true? Any feedback is very Appreciated thanks for the help and hopefully saving of my $$

welcome to the site and be ready to spend some $$$$$$$$$....!!!!! well yes I would definatedly get rid of the flowmaster and replace it with any other like magnaflow, borla, hooker aerochamber and there are some other ones out there that will outflow a flowmaster... I have heard nothing good for the Gran. MAF sensor so I would sale it if possible, that goes the same for a the throttle body spacer...... but hey Im still a rookie so I am pretty sure some other knowledgeable members will chime in and send you in the right direction....

flowmasters do not flow well according to flow machines. and they drone. some people still like them. and they do flo better than stock. magnaflow is a good choice. dynomax super turbos-magnaflow-borla- and most name brands will work well. volant has had some issues in the past. most anything past stock it going to help out. the grnatelli will lean you out as you mod more. sell it. the spacer makes a goo paperweight. get it tuned. nelson performance is a sponser and does a jam up job.

I haven't heard any bad about the second design Volant, but the first design actually lost power. I recently installed the new Volant w/ ram air, and I'm happy with it so far. Feels about the same that it did with the K&N FIPK (maybe a little snappier down low, although I cleaned the MAF at the time of install). As far as the MAF and TB spacer goes, I've never heard any good stuff...tb spacer does nothing and the MAF can actually have a negative affect.

2nd Gen Volants are good. Nothing bad about them. The first design had problems, or not as significant gains.

Throttle body spacers are only good for plumbing nitrous.

Or you could just get direct port.

Seriously man get rid of atleast the muffler the rest of it is probably fine and get you one of the good name brands. I have gran MAF and I noticed absolutely no diff it will be on ebay soon too. A custom tune will make you see the biggest diff. I second the nelson recommendation I love my tune and it is awesome with the nitrous. Oh yeah while ur at it get some nitrous its fun.

I think everyone here started out the same. I did witht the exception of the Voliant, and granitelli. I'm sure everyone went with Flowmasters and a HPPIII at one time. Thankfully we learn. I would definatly recomend a custom tune, and Magnaflow. They are both relativly cheap and easy, and noticiable gains. With my full exhaust and tune with extra PCM only set me back $317.70. For $300 I'm very happy. And they both accentuate other mods. Keep reading, and you will learn. Also real power is found in cams and heads. But you need the intake, exhaust and tune to take full advantage of the potential of other mods.
