Default Going to the track agian/intercooler project

Im going to the track tonight. Im going to try to pick up some dry ice to place on my intake, inderneath the Plastic Magnacharger motor cover. I think thatll help drop the temp. This weekend im going to order the Duramax intercooler and radiator. Im going the intercooler route. Im going to make some type of slide down bracket so i can slide a sheet of dry ice behide the intercooler to drop air temp by alot. What do you guys think? Ive been contemplating the intercooler for a while, I think its time. BTW the temp of dry ice is -109.3F so i think @that temp, you could do some damge on the track

i am very interested in your duramax intercooler/radiator set up, i would love to see some pics and to know how much that stuff costs.

how are you plumbing it? if you just go from the blower outout thru the intercooler into the intake that makes for a prety large chamber after the throttle body, your throttle body is right before the blower like the whipple isn't it? i have no idea if this is a problem or not, i have asked a few people but no one knows. i hope you try it, i would love to try it and it doesn't look like it would be that hard but i don't want to drop the cash if the large chamber is a problem.

Yep, just let the track officials know what the gas is coming from under the hood or they might pull you off the track.

How are you going to transport the dry ice to the track? That stuff goes back to gas form pretty quick, probably real fast in a hot engine compartment.

The intercooler is a good idea but, you might loose a bit of boost from loss across the cooler. I think I remember you saying that there were no smaller pulleys for the Magna. Have you thought about a water/alky setup?

Good luck. With the weight reduction and intercooler you'll probably pick up .4-.6ths depending on how much boost your running and how much boost you lose thru the cooler.

I got a price the otherday for the cooler and radiator. I lost it, but its up there, im going to see if i can find another place to get it from. I have several ideads on the intercooler. Be for i go and make any purchases, i need to do more research. the guys @ Magnacharger say itll be good for 30 or 40 hp im just worried about flow loss and presure loss from the cooler and all of the bens in the actuall plumbing. its going to be a MF to run the plumbing after the s/c to the cooler, and then back to the intake manifold. the s/c discharge is 4"ID so ive fot alot of work ahead of me, i thought it would be cake, but the actual welding of the 90 degree s/coutlet and intake man. inlet will be done by a place by me that does nothing but RICE. they are turbo happy people, and only work on Rice. The owner owes me a favor so im sure hell take care of me. I also need to find various other **** for the install. I dont think the intercooler and th rad are going to clear the waterpump pulley, which would meen that i need to move all of my coolers up closer tothe grill. Its not an easy task. What do you think

you need to have the intercooler up front, it looks to me like if you removed the hood latch bracing(might have to replace with something) there is quite abit of room up front. then have both intercooler hoses come strait down and around the bottom of the radiator then up between the radiator and the engine. i have an electric fan set up so there is a good 4" between the engine and the fans. probably want to use some insulation around the pipes that are in the engine compartment. the tubing would be prety long and on my truck there isn't alot of room between the whipple and the intake to come out with.

i wish whipple would just come out with a kit and sell it, i need to do a little more research on water injection because it sure would be alot easier.
