Gitting heads ported,or get a cam?

Question Gitting heads ported,or get a cam?

Hi I'm new in here.What should I do?Get My heads ported or a cam.If a cam, what size?How much to get heads ported If I get a cam do I have to get a custom chip made?I have a 5.3 Liter,w/ cold air intake,cat-back exhaust,hypertech and shortie headers which are a POS.I am getting long tube headers.more to come.

Do the cam first the heads do not have to be removed to install a cam.If you remove the heads for porting it makes no sense to leave a stock that can't take advantage of the freer flowing ports.

yep, cam would be best out of the two.

And cheapest. Used cams from $100-$300. New are between $350-$400.

Hehe, seems like that's the most frequently asked question nowadays. Too bad there's no single answer so a Sticky post could be made because someday I'll be asking the same thing. It really depends on what you have or plan on having.

A tune is recommended, but not always necessary depending on the specs. LSEdit if you want to do it yourself. There's always mail order PCM's or local tunes.

That's all I have.

For a cam what ever it takes.For heads,I was thanking about getting 6.0L heads.But in the future.
