Default General newbie Q's

What are the advantages of getting your computer reflashed over getting a computer reprogramer such as hypertech?

What is the better N/A cold air intake kit? Volant or K&N? What about just the air filter like K&N or Fram's Air Hog?

What would be the best mod per the money that does not sacerfice performance of something else (like underdrive pullies)?

I am mostly just looking for a little HP gain but leaning more towards the MPG gain.

Get a nelson tune best bang for the buck he knows his ****, and it wont sacrifice performance anywhere. His tune is optimized for your exact truck and how you want it to act unlike a hypercrap that is tuned to work with the thousands of vehicle combos it might be installed.

Nelson Performance is a sponsor here------------------------------->

volant or K&N are both good.. i have the volant cause its a sealed bow and since I see alot of dust my filter will stay a little cleaner

the only programmer I would say to get is the VHP tuner.. since that has tuning features to add timing, adjust shift firmness, extend shifts, and custom cam programs all in one. Or get a nelson tune. I think im gonna sell my vhp tuner cause im gonna need nelson to program my fans to come on since im putting ls1 fans on. Thats the only reason im thinking of selling the VHP tuner though

Open up the intake and exhaust, maybe underdrive pulley and a tune will all net HP and increase fuel economy

I like the idea of the Nelson tuned computer, I looked at what is offered and the idea that you can have it changed and dont have to send in your computer right away is very tempting.

I am planning on doing a Borla dual (from muffler back) exhaust and some sort of intake. I like the idea of the volant keeping the filter inclosed.
What about a cowl induction hood and intake kit?

The UD pullies I will have to pass on, Ive had them on my s-10 and although it was good for it I dont want to use them on this truck.

thanks for the input!

I read your getting borla I have a borla catback because it was on the truck when I bought it... its REALLY quite so I cut the cats out now I really like the sound its still quite you you do hear it under trottle with the windows down(and up if you have the radio off) and I can still play around and rev it up and make enough noise.conv

Yeah thats part of the reason I wanted to go with Borla something that would be quiet but would have some sound to it.
And like you mentioned, if I didnt think it would be loud enough I would start by gutting the cats

I do some highway driving and Ive had loud exhausts, and the two dont really mix very well with me. A constant roar starts getting anoying to me.

Besides I like the Borla sound, it sounds different than the flowmaster set up that everyone seems to have. Not that I dont like flowmasters sound, but alot of people have it.

Do electric fans instead of the underdrive pulleys. You'll pick up some MPG there.
