Gen IV 5.3 to Gen IV 6.0
#1
I have found tons of motor swap info using the search, but I havent found a straight answer to my question.
I have a 2007 Suburban with the LY5 5.3 and it needs a new motor. I want to go ahead and upgrade to the 6.0 (6.2 is not available) but I cant figure out how much will need to be changed along with it.
I am pretty sure the 4L60 will bolt up, and I am aware that I might want to consider some tranny upgrades too since the motor has more power.
I am not worried about any of the easy stuff like exhaust.
I mainly just want to know if my computer will work with the new motor. I assume that it wont due to the VVT, but I am not sure.
Will I need a new computer, or can I simply send mine off for a new tune?
Thanks in advance!

not totally sure but i dont think your computer will work but i could be wrong you might just need a 6.0 or 6.2 file uploaded to you pcm and it could work. but why dont you just get rid of the vvt on the 6.0? its pretty easy just swap out you timing gear from the 5.3 to the 6.0 there both single bolt cams. from there you can just put it in... and get a retune
