Gen III to Gen IV
In my other thread I mentioned that if I keep the truck I will want to do a motor swap. I know the easiest thing would to just drop in a 02 LQ9 or motor built off of the LS1.
But more then likely I would like to do a LS3 or motor built off of the LSX. But it would be GEN IV architecture and I have a Gen III motor. right now I am thinking about a NA or blown 454. That being said I want it to look as factory as possible, don't want a bunch of hacked up things in the engine bay.
Lets say I went to a LSX 454 with an LSXRT or LS7 or L92 intake, would my engine sensors just plug/screw in?
I know the new engines use a 58 reluctor wheel and there are modules to adapt the old computer. But would it be possible to run the 24? what is the advantage to the 58? would my exhaust system bolt up to LS7/LS3/L92 heads?

The 58x is faster, basically smarting ecm.
If you convert to a 24x its no different, tune it just like it was a 6.0 swap.
As for the sensors being used on an LSx block, i have no idea, but id guess they were the same.
The exhaust ports match up to your current exhaust. The difference in the L92/LS3 heads vs the LS7 is the way the intake fits. If you go LS7, you need an LS7 intake if i remember correct

I was looking at the gm performance parts catalog and another site. It looks as if I could run a 24X wheel, I figure that the sensors for the block should plug in, but I think allot of it depends on the heads/intake. Can you run ls1 style heads (cathedral port) on an LSX block?
