Default Gen 4 LMG 5.3 Stock Pump or Melling 10335

So question on oil pumps. I have eliminated AFM/DOD hardware during my cam swap but Melling recommended me to use their 10355 pump which is for AFM/DOD vehicles with high capacity oil pans (Trucks) to prevent pumping the pan dry. They say this pump will maintain 35-40 PSI at hot idle, compared to the stock GM pump #12586665 that I currently have which maintains 25 PSI hot idle and 45-50 Max PSI. I know the oil pan has a relief thats maxes out at 75 PSI. The pump was designed to raise idle PSI but not achieve such a high PSI to damage AFM solenoids at higher RPM.

So since I have done a cam swap, also added new cam bearings, should I upgrade to this pump to maintain a higher PSI?

The engine is currently out of the truck for rear main seal change. So I thought since the pump has 120k miles on it why not replace it. Would this be the ideal pump.

I'd just remove the relief and it should be fine. Having 25-35 at hot idle is more than enough to keep things alive and with it removed it should reach over 50-60 psi now.

I know my mind set is different than others but if it was working perfect before without any problems, I don't see it being a problem in the future. If it aint broke, don't fix it.

All 07+ trucks had the oil relief valve in place. I deleted mine and still have 40 psi idle and over 70psi above 5k rpms. Maybe my 4.8 has a different pump? Run a manual oil pressure test as ive seen many dod motors idle low oil or no oil pressure and it ends up being the damn oil pressure sensor.

I have ran a mechanical gauge. It is within a few PSI of my gauge. I just wanted to see 35-40 PSI at hot idle. Just a piece of mind haha.

FFDP, do you mean the relief in the pan or the pump?

I thought the one in the pan is a pressure relief for high pressure. I heard it goes off around 75 PSI to relieve presure to prevent AFM/DOD Solenoid failure. Will that do me any good blocking it?
