I have a 04 scsb 5.3L 1/2ton truck. An I have the factory D80 locker with 3:73 gears.
An I am about to buy new tires. An I dont know exactly what size I should get.
I tried a set of 17" rims with some low profile tires on them, an 1st gear was useless, all I did was spin. The 2nd gear felt ok at first then its like it quits pulling. Espesially when it hits 3rd it really sucked.
Was it cause the tires were so small an my gear is so tall(3:73)?

So I figured I should maybe try a taller tire, but I still wanted something a little smaller than the stock tires. What size tire do you guys recomend I run with my 3:73 gears?

BTW, keep in mind that I am adding a 100 shot of nitrous soon to. So I deffinatly need traction. Thanks for any advise guys.

I have 3.73 gears and had 255/70/16 stock tires, that's 30.0551 inch and changed them for 275/60/17 kumhos, that's 29.9921. It's a 0.063 inch diff, didn't hurt the speedo at all, looks a lot better than stock IMO and had great traction (before sc though ).
