Default Gauging interest in budget 6.2 build

Ok guys here is what we are thinking about trying to do to help build a low budget 6.2l 58x replacement short block. This will consist of stock crank, stock rods, and a flat top mahle forged power pack flat top piston and ring setup. This build would consist of a 58x reluctor wheel. If you would like to build it up with better crank and rods we could do that to just a little more money. But for the basics this short block would start at $2899.95....Let me know what you think....

I think it would be a good seller for those saddled with smaller engines, but would also believe that you would have a pretty hot seller on your hands, even with a stock rotating assembly if you offered them with a 24-tooth reluctor wheel. As you know, the conversion is not terribly difficult or otherwise expensive, but having to run the converter box is one of the major downfalls in most peoples mind questioning reliability and also probably the most expensive part of it. Come to think of it, one would even make a good candidate for replacement of the stock LQ4 in my truck……LOL

Would probably be a good seller. Sounds like something I would be interested in.

Price seems a tad high. I can build a 402 shortblock for that much.

You should be looking at right around 10.7:1 with the stock 64.5cc chambers

You're trying to compare a completely different engine and a home built price to an LS3/L92 block engine built for you from a vendor. Your claim and what we are considering offering are two completely different engines. Just for comparison, 6.0 iron block stock cube setups with stock cranks average about $3399 from vendors. Iron block strokers (402, 408) normally start at about $3650. That's a higher price even using an iron block, whereas we are offering an aluminum block setup. When using an aluminum block, a 402 starts at about $4299 with the stock cube setup right about $4000. Of course, that's still just using your 6.0 block build for comparison, whereas we are talking about a 6.2 block.

I'm glad you stopped in to check out our thread and we value any input. I think you'll find that when compared to equivalent setups, this budget shortblock we are considering offering is a very good deal!

Sounds like a good price, I would probably go the 24X route too...
