L33Z71...What kind of times did you run in the 1/4 with the 5.3 CC? What year model?

I average about 8 in the city and anywhere from 12-15 on the highway depending on how hilly or flat it is. The 4l80e seemed to hurt the gas mileage more than anything though.
8 is horrendous!!!

That seems pretty respectable, couldn't be too far off stock.
L33Z71's setup in a 5.3 CC w/ 3.90s, even seems fair for mileage. I wouldn't be too upset at all w/. that.
When I can get my truck together, tested & some tanks of gas ran thru, I'll let ya know how bad my cam swap hurt me. I'm hopin very little, considering I have that small stall.

tsp recommends a 3k stall with their 220/220 cam on the 5.3l. I get about 15-16 mpg on the highway, but I do not have a stall yet.

My best time was 14.2, can't remember speed, wanna say it was 96-97 mph. I'll have to find the timeslip. It was a 2004 GMC Sierra CCSB, 5.3. 3.90's, Arizona Marine & Speed LT's, catted y-pipe, 2.5"true dueals with cutouts, Hughes Perf. Street Master 2500 Stall Converter, Comp 216/220, CAI, ASP UD pulley, e-fans, ported TB, and Nelson Tune. Best time was in summer heat, with milde weight reduction. Probably would have gotten into 13's in cold weather. The TQ Converter, 3.90's, and true duals were holding me back on the low end. My 60's were horrible, but not bad for a 5000#truck with me in it.

And it got great mileage. It was not uncommon for me to get 22-24 on pure highway runs.

I lost about 2 mpg when I swapped from 3.42's to 3.90's in that truck, but gained that all back plus with the cam and headers.

Right around that neighborhood behind a 5.3, and I've heard about 2600 behind a 6.0. If going the TB converter route, I'd talk to Chris at Circle-D and get one of their reworked TB converters and pick your stall speed. It's about $150-$175 more than a bone stock factory TB converter, but it's also upgraded and I believe somewhat stronger.
