Default g-tech and real track times

I was feeling a little bummed about my 4.8L extended cab with the lift tailgate going 14.6 according to my g-tech, even though my 1/4 mile run is slightly uphill. However, my bone stock gto that should run high 13 second passes only manages low 15's on the same road. Is my time discrepancy solely due to the track elevation, or do the g-techs give conservative readings?

from what i understand they dont read conservatively actually quite the opposite they read a little too fast you should have to add time to make them accurate from what i understand and your GTO running like that is two things g-tech or driver hope it is the g-tech

My point was that I did not realize how much of an up hill slope I was running on. My GTO feels as strong as it should from the factory, However, I have never had the chance to get real track times on my silverado after my mods. I thought my truck was running really slow until I added the smoker's package to my gto, allowing me to plug the g-tech into an outlet. I know what the gto should run, therefore either my g-tech is really conservative, or else I have ben running on a much greater uphill slope than I previously realized. Either way, thanks for the reply.

Can you take the run in both directions and then average the two runs? If not find a place that is more level or that you can run in both directions if you can.
Which G-Tech do you have ? If you have the older G-Tech Pro and not the G-Tech Pro Competition then it is possible that you will see higher error rates. The older model only has two accelerometers, is fussier to set up and more prone to error.

Go to a real track and use the meter at the same time. Otherwise you really don't have much to go on.

my gtech reads .3 fast in the 1/4. the 60' is never more than .01 off.

the hill will completely mess up the reading, you have to be on a perfectly flat road. maybe look for a bridge or something.

My current location only has a limited number of cop free zones. I just use the g-tech to gauge performance differences after mods. I just never realized how much difference that slight uphill grade was making on the readings until I ran the gto for a baseline #.
