They were an option in the Avalanche, I just couldn't find one with 4.10's that had everything else I wanted.

GMCtrk, I dont know when they started making them an option on the 1500s but that was one of the main things I was looking for when I purchased my truck. They are a perfect match for the 5.3 as the 5.3 lacks the low end torque the old 5.7 Vortec had [2800 rpm peak torque (5.7) vs 4000 rpm peak torque(5.3)]. In fact with less than 3000 miles on my truck I have avereaged over 17 mpg driving strictly in city driving situations (around 45-50 mph max speed)

Yeah, I had a 5.3 Avalanche 5.3 with 4.10's... and the SS's come with them. VHO's too? Not totally sure about the others, but I thought you could get them in Z71's?

I've GOT to get mine on a dyno soon. The only shop within 1.5 hours of me looks like it's closing though, so it may be a bit.

I ran my truck at the strip for the first time last week.

Full street weight (5400lbs?), trailer hitch, spare, 3/4 tank of gas, these heavy sway bars -- tuning, e-fans, and the small torque cam I've got -- 14.5 at 92. 2.13 60'

Not too shabby, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't hoping for more. I really can't complain though.

Edit: Also, I know there is more in it, tuning wise.

I only made two runs. The first I had about 4-5 KR hits of about 2*. I ran a 14.9 at 90 with a horrible 2.6 60'. I don't know why it sucked so bad. I took down my timing (found a table that was adding it in when I didn't want it), and clicked off the above 14.5, with a small hit of KR at the launch.
