Maybe the 4.8's are weaker? I'm used to reading about the LQ4, which people push to 700-800 on the stock bottom end relatively commonly.

Yea I've read the gen 3 in its stock form is good for 600 then you start bending rods. Gen 4 things got a little beefier

theres a dude in the drag racing section running 9's in a 4400 lb truck with a 4.8.

Year for year, the 4.8 should be the strongest shortblock available if stock. Most cylinder thickness and less stroke.
