Fuel System
#1
First a little background...Currently I am running some marine 42lbers with a walbro intank 255 pump. When originally setup, everything seemed to be in spec with idle fuel pressure and driving/wot pressure. I haven't drove the truck in a while since my 4l60 had started slipping really bad. When I more or less parked it, fuel pressure was a little on the low side at idle, but never seemed to be running lean at any point. I am getting ready to have the 4l80 installed, and decided to drive it around to see if I would be able to drive it, or if I was going to have to tow it. At idle, fuel pressure is all of a sudden in the low 30s, but again the truck doesn't seem to be running lean. The pump is really starting to whine now too. Correct me if I am wrong in my thinking, but seems the pump is on its way out
For those that don't know, truck is an 02 with the little 4.8l and has a procharger d1sc on it. With the 4.1" pulley, I have seen around 10-11lbs with it. It also has a set of Dynatech Supermaxx headers and catted y-pipe (old style). Other than injectors, pump, and tune, there isn't anymore performance wise to it.
Now that the background is out of the way, what is everyone doing for a fuel system now? Are people still running intanks? Inlines? What about the racetronix bucket kit...is it a stock bucket with a 255 shoved in it like what was done years ago? Or does it retain the factory functionality, just more pump? What is this hotwire kit people talk about? Are there other options?
I would really like to do a fuel cell in the spare location, but my only concern is the filler neck. I do daily drive the truck, or will again when the new tranny is in, and don't want to have to cut a hole in the bed and lift the tonneau every time I fill up. Of course with everything said, I want the most for the least $$$ like everyone else lol, but I want to do it right too. So lets hear it, whats the deal?
Sorry that was song long winded, just wanted everything out at once

I was running a GSS340 Walbro in the stock bucket , with stock lines and LS3 rails. 39lb injectors, on a 500+whp 370 motor with no issue's. Ran 58psi and never saw over 85% duty on the injectors.
I am putting another 340 pump in my HD.

You can get a Racetronix kit with either stock or 255 installed. I went with the 255 but have not installed my module yet.
Also just curious, when was the last time you changed the fuel filter?

Yeah, I've seen the 255 racetronix kit, was just curious if its the same as throwing a 255 pump in the stock bucket, or if it actually functions like factory
Fuel filter was changed recently while the truck has been down due to the slipping tranny. It hardly has any mileage on it.

On my '99 the stock Delphi fuel pressure regulator has a small security torx screw on it. Tightening it up increases the fuel pressure. I just learned this recently when I thought my pump was shot too. Also, pressure should jump up when vac line to FPR is removed, and that's when to adjust pressure.
