Question Fuel pump going bad?

I just swapped intakes and did away with my custom return system so I could run the factory rails etc. with my L76 intake. I'm in the 400rwhp range so my fuel pump that came with my old Radix system should be good right? It is a 255lph correct?

Well, around 4500rpm I start to loose fuel pressure and by 5500 my injectors are beyond 100% and fuel pressure holds steady @20lbs but AFR climbs to 14:1. Fuel pump has around 20k miles on it and the factory in-tank filter and regulator have ~10k miles worth of fuel run through them.

Anyone seen these things go bad prematurely like this? There is a possibility that it could be leaking at where the plastic tube goes from the pump to the regulator/filter unit I guess. I did have to do a little rigging to get it all to hook up again.

Anyone know where I can get just a new plastic pump discharge tube?

Hey bro, I see alot of fuel pumps *** out here at my shop. So if yours is going bad, that's nothing out of the norm. Do you have a fuel pressure guage? If so, tape it to your window and connect it to your fuel rail and drive your truck around until it starts acting up. You will see the guage and see the exact rpm when the fuel pressure drops out.

Let me know how that turns out.

Thanks, good to know its common. I have an electric Autometer Cobalt staring me in the face everyday. That's how I know i'm loosing pressure.

Here's what I'm doing. I'm having the same problem as you, but not quite as bad. I'm down to 50 psi at wot. I'm suspecting my pump is getting weak, so I'm going to change it out with a 255lph Walbro. I'm also going to do the fuel pump hot wire thing, lots of the F-Body's do. Nobody makes a dedicated hot wire kit for trucks, but the f-body kit should do the trick, just change the plugs on the end. Here's what I found so far: 03, and down, I THINK the f-body kit is plug and play; 04 and up, I THINK the 03-05 C6 Corvette kit might just work, the plugs look the same. You can get the hot wire kits in the $60-$80 range. I really think the fuel pump wiring is not quite up to the test for high voltage pump draws. Racetronics, and Full Throttle Speed, and Casper's all have hot wire kits. And....they're all sponsers, maybe not on here, but on Tech.

Well, funny you should mention that. At the same time with the swap I also removed my MSD voltage booster. It had larger gauge wires all the way to the pump module. I didn't have this problem with it on there and my old set-up. The Voltage booster was still on there from the turbo days and was doing nothing other than giving reg voltage since it is boost sensitive. Hmmm, I may have to do some playing here.

I'm looking into doing a surge tank, eventually.
