Default Fuel pump & bang on bottom of tank.

What is wrong with a fuel pump if banging on the tank can bring it back to life momentarily? Is there usually some kind of an electrical short inside it? I have a genuine ACDelco (Mexican version, made in China) fuel pump and it is already going out after 4 months. I even changed the connector like the TSB recommends. I guess I'll have to suck it up and buy the American version which gouges the sh*t out of me because the whole module is included but not needed.

99% sure thats the pump, classic electric motor failure symptom. We used to diagnose window motors/wiper motors the same way, bang on the motor and it starts to work...typical of todays parts, i own my own shop now and worked for 15yrs at a dealership and the junk we get from aftermarket vendors is rediculous, espescially fuel pumps, starters, alternators...any electrical part we almost always have to put on 2 or 3 and when i was at the "stealership" as many like to refer to it we never had part failures...of course you pay twice as much.

The pump is dying, if you have the time, swap it for a walboro255 or see if someone has a pump in the classifieds left over from a 255lph swap.

It's either a bad connection or a bad pump. Usually it's a bad pump.

It's just like banging on a starter that doesn't want to work.

Yeah I put a cheapo Walbro 255 in my truck over 3 years ago and it's still running stong. I just had to chop the crap out of the bucket to make the sock fit and the single-inlet is kind of a turn-off.
