Fuel Gauge Is Possessed. HELP!
#13
the reason people usually replace it as a unit is because it is such a PITA to get the tank down it usually pays to follow thru. I have done this twice.......both my tahoe and my pickup had the same sending unit issues. I bought an aftermarket pump/sender assy from Oreilly and have been told it is of better quality than the GM unit. I have been very happy since and would do it the same way again if I had it to do over.
If you just replace the sender luck will have it that 2 weeks later your pump will take a dump. might as well get them both while you are in there. Good luck......It is a time consuming job but not a hard one. Just make sure you run your truck almost out of gas if you can.

Damn, my truck started doing this crap too. The guage will bounce around a bit before going to the actual level and when I filled up this morning($50+
) the needle sat down on E for a long time until it finally made it's way to full. If mine breaks I'm just going to drive it like that.

WELL IF YOU DO THE SENDER YOUR SELF MAY 150.00 JUST THE SENDER.AND I WAS THINKING OF THE SAME WHEN I DO THE 4 LINK. I WAS UNDER THE TRUCK PULLING MEASUREMENT AND IF YOU CAN WELD AND MAKE IT YOUSELF CAUSE IT WOULD COST ABOUT 400 TO 500 TO GET BUILD BUT YOU CAN FIT A 6 TO 30 GALLONS,WERE THE SPARE TIRE FITS IT WILL BE TIGHT BUT IT FIT I AM GOING TO FINE THE MEASUREMENTS AND I POST THEM FOR YOU.
