Default fuel filter location?

buddy of mine is working on his 05 silverado 1500.. and he cant find the fuel filter.

where is it?

i thought it would be inline along the frame but he said it isnt at all.

no filter. Gm dealer ship sold me one knowing damn well i didn't have one.lol took the tank off looking for it lol.
