Big time! I don't understand why GM doesn't include 4.10:1 gears standard in the Z71s instead of 3.73:1 gears. My cruise RPM is too low, but I make up for it driving slower.

Well I do know why... CAFE and EPA... *******!

Power and economy can and do go hand in hand if properly picked out and tuned accordingly.

I am getting on average about 14mpg in my truck. I travel in sto and go traffic in the morning for about 45min. Then on the way home I am either in traffic or going 80mph on the freeway then 85-90 on the backroads home. I also usually stop at least once to log a G-Timer run in to check things out and change shift points. LOL

If I drive like a normal citizen mostly on the free way with some town then I get 15-16mpg. Not too shabby since I never got more than 370miles out of a tank of gas bone stock and new, now I get 320-340 with 22.5ga. If I run it into the red and leave the fuel light on for a bit I can get 36+ but who the hell wants to burn up a fuel pump?

The last long trip was to Rocky Point Mexico, which is about 250 miles eash way from Phoenix. I averaged 20 mpg with the cruise set @ 75 nearly the whole way. I only have the 2 modifications listed in my sig.

2000 Ecsb 5.3 Auto 3.73 Headers Jba Stock Converter Duels Out The Back Whipple Msd 8.5 Hypertech For Trans. Gets 20.1 At 85 Cruise For 500 Miles Just Went To Whipple Last Week From Laguna Thats 276 Miles To Fresno Got 19.2 On Th E Way Home At 75. City Is 15. 75 Is Just Under 2000 Rpm With The 265/70/17 Tires. So I Think 18 To 20 On The Road Is Realistic For Any Speed From 65to 85 Cruise. Free Up The Intake And Exhaust And The Mpg Will Rise At Cruise,
