I had a lifter that had small "nicks" on the roller, but still rolled smoothly. Here's my stock cam at 68k miles. Fount two lobes like this. It ticked all the time from 20k miles. Dealer called it piston slap or carbon buildup.

I wouldn't risk it with the lifter. Did you upgrade the lifters? If so, did you pull the cam during the upgrade? Do you have the old lifters? If so I would check all the rollers. Do you have upgraded valve springs? I'm wondering if the stock cams don't like the extra pressure if you upgraded.

I just put 799's on and from what I read have higher lift springs I believe good to atleast .550. The lifters are stockers which will be just fine for what I'm doing to the truck.

everything was in stock form. Stock cam (the bad one), stock lifters, stock 799 heads

I replaced my lifters and replaced them with the newer trays and lifters, LS7 I think. I'd hate to say it, you're going to have to change lifters.

it'll have to be next year, my funds are running low and its my only ride. It will be fine, my brother has been running a TR220 for the past 3yrs and beating the **** out of it w/no failures on the stock lifters.

This is not meant to sound harsh, but my Dad taught me to "either do it right, or don't do it at all". If you reuse the lifter, gasket, bolts, you're going to be back in there again. It will be both cheaper and easier to just do it right, now. Good luck with it man, that really sucks. I feal your pain.

no, the lifters are brand new. i replaced them thinking they were my original issue (they were just didn't know about the cam). So they are brand new, I'm just replacing the one that was on the bad lobe so not to destroy the new cam.

I understand were your coming from though

I'm looking for ARP's at local shops, and I have a new gasket already. I just need to get a lifter. I went to the dealer w/ part # 17122490 listed on the site and its $50 for just one... WTF? I know thats not right
