Nothing personal, Zip. Lots of guys get confused and think it has to be hard shifts or it isn't right. It's just not that way. Tranny tech has advanced.

i only noticed the firm shift the first few miles then you get used it it. fast and firm is soo much better than the long drawn out slide into the next gear. the only time i notice an excessively hard shift is if i am floored and then let off right as it is about to shift, for some reason it shifts rear hard right then.

That's how it should be. Any hack can throw a shift kit in and make slamming hard shifts. The best builders know how to use the right parts and get that fast firm shift without the harshness.

My stock truck tranny does that hard *** shift if I'm cruising at a steady speed and then coasting as I turn up either of two hills nearby. When I do get on the gas as I'm heading up, the speed has dropped just enough to bang into first hard. I hate that! I can't wait to get it rebuilt but I bet that little bang will never go away. Damn boosted trucks...

Zippy my factory built trans was doing a good job but I am going to up the hp and didn't want it to break. I also ran across a damn good buy in a level 5 so that is the reason I changed. The flp shifts softer on normal driving and I will later today have the truck tuned and will be doing a wot to see what it does.

just couldn't remember if you had broken yours or not. it's impressive that the stock one held up so well.

Does anyone know, what parts that the FLP L5 would have that you would not be able to get form say PATC or some other trans parts place ? I need to have my 4L65 built and when i looked at the parts break down of what you get in parts most of them are already in the 4L65 and the ones that aren't maybe add up to like 800 to 900 bucks max. However then the price of the trannies are like 2550.00 Is there really 1600 worth of labor to rebuild one of these ??? maybe someone can shed some light on it. thanks

FLP uses cryogenics on some of their parts.
