Flowtech cut-out question?

I have a Flowtech 3" cut-out on my truck. My question is, what are the metal gaskets that they send in the kit for?

Well, I didn't get metal gaskets with mine. They should be for the seal between the plate and opening. I recived paper with mine. I made some better ones at work though.
