Flexalite electric fans for 99 & newer trucks.

Has anybody gotten or installed the new fan kit yet? I'm probably going to order mine next week. Just wondering if there has been any problems with them or if they're all good.

I just went to Flex-A-Lite.com and it says that they are discontinued. Any info on this? Should I buy them now before it is too late, or is there a problem with there system?

it says the 250/260 is discontinued not the 282.
i have the 282 and it is really nice, it should be for the money. it will only fit radiators that have a 34" wide core, as far as i know only the 3/4 ton trucks came with that radiator. i wanted to be able to keep it super cool so i went ahead and got the 282 and a 3/4 ton radiator. this is the cheapest radiator i could find.

my truck will deinately stay cool, it was about 80deg at the track and i could prety much do laps on the track and the truck never got over 180deg(atap), if i stoped to do something it would drop to 172deg and just a few minutes. i figured with a blower and a 6.0 keeping cool would be a good thing.

The only thing you will need for the 282 fans is a 34" core radiator. Check your local junkyards for them. They are pretty cheap most of the time.
I have had electric fans before on other vehicles and was a little apprehensive about putting the 282's on but, the controller that comes with them is VERY nice. It is a well thought out system and the fans flow 5500CFM <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" /> AWESOME!!
I have yet to put mine on. I think I'm going to do everything at once.(gotta alot of parts sitting around) <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

DISREGARD! Parish8 has set it straight. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
The only reason I can think of why they would discontinue them is that they don't fit on a stock 4.8/5.3L pickup truck radiator. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" />
Evidently the Tahoe/Subs have the bigger radiator from the factory.

Well I checked it out at the Flexalite website and it says that the 282 is supposed to fit the trucks. I thought they all had the 34" core or am I mistaken? Either way I'll be ordering them. I didn't install the set of 250's I had because of the fabbing that needed to be done. This kit seems more complete.

the flex 282 comes with some super nice brackets and only takes about 5 minutes to mount but it only fits on 34" cores, you probably don't have a 34" core. the site says it will fit all trucks with a 34" core.

The 282s fit -
1999 Chevrolet/GMC Silverado 1/2 ton Trucks, new body style, with 34"x17" radiators (4.8L-V8, 5.3L- V8, 5.7L-V8, 6.0L-V8)
2000-2002 Chevrolet/GMC Silverado Trucks with 34"x17" radiators (4.8L-V8, 5.3L-V8, 5.7L-V8, 6.0L-V8)
2000-2002 Chevrolet/GMC Suburban ( 4.8L-V9, 5.3L-V8, 5.7L-V8, 6.0L-V8)
2000-2002 Chevrolet Tahoe (4.8L-V8, 5.3L-V8, 5.7L-V8)
2000-2002 GMC Yukon (4.8L-V8, 5.3L-V8, 5.7L-V8)
1999-2002 Cadillac Escalade (5.3L-V8, 5.7L-V8, 6.0L-V8)
2002 Chevrolet Avalanche (5.3L-V8)
2002 Cadillac EXT (6.0L-V8)
This kit didn't fit in my 8.1 Suburban. Either that truck has a bigger radiator or trucks equipped with the 8.1 have a bigger radiator. I'll have to see how it compares to the one in an 8.1 Silverado/Sierra.
