Just like the subject says, I'll be making my first passes on a dyno sometime in March. I'll have the Transgo in by then as well as electric fans. My question is, what kind of advice do you guys have for me being this is my first time? Such as, what gear to run in and stuff like that.

Also guessing by my mods, including the shift kit and fans, what kind of numbers do you think I might get? I haven't done any internal work yet so I'm not expecting massive numbers. Thanks for any suggestions.

Not sure on the dyno numbers, but I have a quick question for you. What are your shift settings with your Hypertech? And what RPM are you shifting at? You are one of the few 99's on this board it seems and I need that info.

I honestly can't remember what I have my shift points set at right now with the Hypertech. I'm taking out the shift firmness setting tomorrow so I'll find out what I have them set at and get back with you.

On my 99 I shift at the 5950 rpm with the hypertech and have a 6200 redline. I think with the cam I could redline it at 6500 but with stock rod bolts and no edit it ain't gonna happen.

1-2 +3
2-3 +4
3-4 +4

These are pretty mild settings compared what I've seen other people run. I checked what my shift rpms were on the way home from work but was only able to do the 1-2 shift. Moderate traffic and icy roads didn't allow for much of a WOT run. I am shifting right at 5500 RPM on the 1-2 shift. I know it's not much but that's all I can provide today. Maybe once the roads here dry up a bit I can make a full run for you.

What do they do? Do they run the vehicle to top speed or redline?

 

When you go to the dyno, pull down you shift points (mainly 2-3) so you can start you 3rd gear run at a lower rpm without it kicking down. That way you will get ~3000rpm up to your 128 speed limiter. If you have a choice in time of day, try to go in the morning when it is cooler and make sure they have a big fan blowing. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

 

Running in 3rd gives you more acurate numbers (1:1 drive ratio). With 3.73s I hit my speed limiter before I hit my rev limiter in 3rd.
