Default Finally went to the dyno....

Went to the Dyno in Marietta tonight... before Cam goes in Saturday...

Dynoed 254.4 rwhp and 290.4 rwtq

I didnt think that was too bad... for only having the mods I have in my Sig.

Going back after this weekend to see what my cam did....

Anyone have any Ideas.....

Cam is in Signature..

Seems slightly low to me, I think there's more to be had from your tune. I hope the cam opens your motor up some, and maybe you can get more out of the tune then, I think you should see atleast 310 after the cam, if your running on a DynoJet.

My 4.8L hit 254rwhp with mods in sig. I think you should have more out of the 5.3L. Im gonna guess the same as BowtieKyle, 310rwhp after the cam. And i also think there is more to be had from your tune.

60 rwhp with that cam ?? i dont think so it might get you close to 3 i would guess but a 55 rwhp increase from that cam seems overly high and i would not expect that much if i were you

We were saying he should hit 310rwhp if he gets the tune fixed with the cam. With the mods he has he should put down more than 254rwhp. My 4.8L put down 254rwhp.

im hitting 3XX with my mods. it will take a lot more than tuning and a cam to get it to over 300.

His HP may look a little low, but look at his torque number. It is pretty good. I would think you should get around 25-30 ponies and ft/lbs. The GM Hot Cam in a LS1 gives over 40 hp & torque, so I would think this cam would be less.

I have noticed that there are stock VHO's that are posting dyno numbers greater than mine and I have mods and a tune. Just consider this a benchmark for your future mods.

just take it back after the cam swap and let us know what it puts down then. Those numbers sound pretty good to me. Just remember that all of those people with the 4.8's that have comparable horsepower are probably not so comparable when the torque comes into play. Yes the vho's are putting down about the same power that you are, even with your mods, but you have to remember that they have more displacement and better flowing heads on top of that (this is not saying that a 4.8, 5.3, 5.7, or 6.0 with the same mods will put out close to the same hp/tq, they probably wont unless one is a freak).

I'm gonna give you a scenario of my experience with a buddy's ext. cab 5.3 we installed a cam in and dynoed. We had no baseline dyno of the truck to show the improvements, but after a 220 .558 114+4 cam, or somewhere close, underdrive pullies, Yank 3000 TT, stock intake with Jantzer ported and polished TB, stock maifolds and cats with magnaflow, and OUR tune unsing edit, which was pretty conservative but running 28* timing on 87 octane. We put out a steady 308-313 on the dyno, and im positive a good tuner could have gotten 320-325 out of it easy. This tune gave us 22 MPG on the highway home from the dyno.
You should be able to put down 310 with an intake, headers and cutout, supposing your tuner can do a good job
