Default Few ?'s on installing a new guage

Got an A/F guage from a buddy to hook up. I know that the purple wire on the guage taps into the signal from the PCM, just not sure where to find that wire on the truck itself. Before everyone starts saying there's no point in running it without a wideband.....I know that. The thing is the guage was free, and I need something to go in the pod to fill the space. Later on I'll either swap it out for the AEM or a wideband sensor. I'm just trying to find out about wiring this up cause my Trans Temp guage should be here in about 3 days so I wanna wire everything up at one time. Also, is there any particular place I should tap the red wire from the guage into, besides just a switched 12V ign. source?

I taped (sp) in tho one of the three wires at one of the 02 sensors. I will go look if you want.

I'd prefer to tap in at the PCM versus the O2's. But if you could tell me where it taps in on your's I could probably just trace it to the PCM. My biggest thing is, I don't know where the PCM is to look for the O2 signal wire.

Here is a pic of where the ecm is. the black cover has two tabs holding it.

I would still tap into the o2 sensor insted of the ecm harness. If the connection ever corrodes (and it will) you can just replace the 100$ o2 sensor rather than trying to fix the whole harness. But it is your choice. There are four wires on the o2 sensor. One white, two black, and one blue. I used the blue wire.

Alright, this is probably the route I'll go...since I'm considering switching to something like a Bosch Wideband Sensor later on. Therefore, what's the best way to go about getting to the O2 sensor on the driver's side, since I believe that would be the best place for me because I already have a large grommet installed for my stereo that I can go through on the firewall. I'm guessing I'll have to jack the front end up to get to the sensor. If you've got any better idea or pictures that would help out, I'd really appreciate it. I went out today and bought some T-Taps that I've used before and makes the connection alot cleaner. I knew the blue wire was where I should tap in after reading some older threads, cause I know that it becomes either the purple or the purple/white striped wire once it gets up to the computer.

No need to jack the front-end up. I used the upper sensor.

Sounds great. I think I'm gonna go out right now to take a look at things and probably go ahead and run the wiring and install it tomorrow while I'm waiting on the trans temp guage to get here. Where did you tie in for the red wire for a switched 12v source and the black grounding wire?

Just went out and looked and I don't see the front sensor. Anything you can give me as a landmark to locate it? Judging from the pic you posted I'm guessing it's right where the y-pipe bolts to the manifold? If that's the case, I may just wait till the tranny guage comes in.

Can someone help me out with where I should tap for the red(hot) wire and the black(ground) wire. I know the instructions just say a switched 12v source, but I wanna make sure it doesn't need to be hooked to the dimmer switch for instance.
