well i know my way around motors, and especially chevy pickups, i grew up with my ol man and grandfather building 350s, 383s, 454s, 468s, and a handful of boat motors....
I am sorry if i over looked anything but my dad picked up a 99 reg cab with the 4.8 and i am just wondering what do you all recommend to get any more oomph out of it. is there any junkyard mods? adything from a 5.3 or 6.0 i can swap over. obviously exhaust and intake are in the works, but i know for jeeps alot of parts can be pulled from other newer jeeps to get some power. i was wondering if any bolt ons would work with my 4.8?

Deffenatly most lsx based motors most parts are interchangeable, from a 5.3 you wont gin any they are practically the same but the 4.8 has a shorter stroke , but all in all if you just would like to get a few more hp I would recommend an inexpensive ls6 cam with ls6 springs but honestly if your goibg to cam it might as well do a aftermarket performance cam like a comp 212/218 a tune their is a few sponsors on hers that do mail order tunes , long tube headers always help , their so much you can do but the question is how far do you want to go . Hope it helps

yea its not a race truck or anything like that, were trying to just do bolt on stuff, i didnt know if anything was gainful from the other big brothers. but i guess ill just stick to the bolt ons for now. there is a little valve tap so ill wait til the 4.8 goes and either go 5.3 or 6.0 and then throw some $ into it
