A few questions about ATI
#1
I am looking at the P1SC HO ATI for my 2000 Chevy truck ,5.3 auto 4wd. I know about the issues with stock drivetrain, and what not. I did just get the Autotap AT1 w/enhanced parameters, and I know that I will need to monitor fuel trims(even though I don't know jack about them), timing advance/retard,intake air temp/ Knock retard. See I have learned a couple things in my two years of lurking
My concerns are:
Does the ATI come with a tuner, if so, which one?
eg;superchips, etc.
Does it NEED a tuner/or custom tune just for a basic running setup?
Do I have to worry about crank pulley issues if I use red loctite?
Are the stock injectors ok for running and starting with?
Any other tips you can give me about this supercharger?
My motor is, and will remain basically stock internally, and this is the reason for my concerns.
I realize for big #'s I would need to tune it,etc. I am not really looking for that to start. It looks like to me with the ATI kit, they give you the illusion of not needing any tuning because it has an intercooler. I could be totally full of it though.
Thanks alot for any help, as I know these are alot of questions! Sam

So you Have to send the pcm to Ed? That is kinda weak. I emailed Tom Byrne about it also, but I don't expect a reply for a few days since the holidays. I don't trust the tuning as a generic application anyway, but as long as everything runs good, it doesn't have to be optimum, or I know parts will be breaking really fast <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> I was on the verge of buying a Whipple after buying my truck, but luckily had some interaction with a guy with the same truck as me, that had lots of probs with detonation, and fuel delivery. He also told me they were very unhelping with him, as this was his daily transportation. My truck is my daily trans also, thats why I am so cautious about what I am putting on there. I don't want too much power with the stock drivetrain, because I know what happens. I really like the intercooler design, and general layout of the ATI, as well as it's reputation for quality, and durability. I wonder if you can even run a larger pulley on the ATI to get a small amount of boost?
For those that say" why even get one?" I love the "powerband it gives you, the high end, the sound. It is cheaper than having a Formula AND my truck I guess. Thats what I would prefer.
