Default Few pics of the racing seats. Not done yet...

We got the seats bolted down last night. It's too cold to paint the brackets we had to make to mount them, so bare with me. I think Flyer had posted on what we were going to do about seat belts. I ordered two street harnesses(not the actual race harnesses because the girlfriend would not go for having to put them on every time we went in the truck.) We took a measurement behind the seat and will be welding a bar across the back. We're going to cut out two holes in each back pillar to allow the bar to go through, and we're going to weld the two lips on the bar for the harness to mount up. Pretty simple, yet effective. The seats are just a cheap pair of racing seats I picked up online. Next month, I'm going to carry them to my local upholdstery(sp) place and have them covered in leather with some emblem on the top(don't know what yet). I had to go ahead and install them, because I had already sold the seats and needed them out of the truck. Anyway,

This picture show how much room is left in the truck. The seats are in the middle position here, with plenty of room to slide forward and reverse. My plastic kickplate is off because it is primed and setting in my shed ready for paint. It fits perfectly over our new brackets.

Really look good, how much do you guesstimate the weight savings are you getting? How about the seat height, is it the same as stock?

The seats weighed in at right at 20lbs apiece. I didn't get to weigh the stock seats, so I couldn't get an exact amount on what I dropped. I would say the stock seats weigh, what 50-60lbs apiece? Don't know about the middle console. The sitting location is roughly an inch lower than stock. It really feels more like riding in a sports car over a truck, but definately not too low. I did some measuring before, and determined that it was where I wanted, so I bought an inch and a half tubing to make my brackets. Those that want to stay at stock height should probably go with 2-2.5" tubing.

Riley, I got the package. I really appreciate the pics! I left the cd at home, but I'll bring it over here tomorrow and get some pics up of your truck(I saw the name of your folder of your pics ) I'll also get the two cds out to you Monday.

IMD- These seats came off of an ebay store. I was going to get the summit brand ones, but these looked the same and I paid $326 for these shipped. The summits were like $208 apiece, I think. The seats are of pretty good quality, considering the cost, and I bought them with the intention of getting them covered in leather. My upholdstery guy told me he'd give me a sweet deal on a leather covering.

The seats gave me a ton of room in the interior and a really nice racer feel. I'll get some pics up of my harnesses when they come in and we get them mounted. I'll also get some pics of the brackets we made when it goes back into the shop for the pulley install.
