factory quiet exhaust

**** I forgot you said it's dual. That would get expensive adding 2 of whatever. But any muffler or resonator would help. If I recall correctly resonators are pretty cheap if you wanna give those a shot.
If you don't have cats, adding cats would help a lot with noise level too. If somehow that's a cheap option

it has OEM converters with a 22" magnaflow dual in dual out 3" muffler but the tail pipe is merged into 1 pipe for the factory exhaust tip. literally cut out the stock DI/DO and slapped in a magnaflow. the truck is not loud by any means, but i'm still tired of listening to it.

Hmmm is there enough room to add a resonator or second muffler into the single pipe?
I bet someone has a stock catback just laying around you could get the rear resonator off of. Or maybe take a saw to the local scrap yard and hack one off the tail and have it added to yours? You could likely get the resonator for $20 and have it welded in for under $50. Be a fairly cheap and easy try
Factory resonator is also straight through so that's a plus

Lol
I am getting old aswell. I have been trying for years to quiet my truck down.
I run a x pipe, a bullet on each bank and a 28" magnaflow on each bank. I just extended the dumps 2' longer then it was.
I run a 28" magnaflow on the wifes cammed Tahoe with stock manifolds with cats and even that is a little loud for me.

**** we're all old then
I did headers and Y pipe on my truck with a factory 6.2 catback (it's 3.5"), and I did it for it to be quiet and flow. This is the first time I've ever put quiet at the top of the list on my exhaust setup.
Mine truly is the best compromise exhaust, it flows a lot better than the 5.3 cat back did and is dead *** quiet. VERY quiet. Only draw back is I'm probably leaving a good 10hp on the table. But it's just a daily and it did pick up 3mph over the stock manifolds, cats, and the 5.3 catback with a quiet strait through. So I can't complain too much.
I'm likely going to do a straight through muffler to get the most flow out of it because I plan on doing a 6.2 swap and cam, and at that point the stock muffler is gonna become a much larger restriction. But i'll save the stock muffler for when I can't stand the noise anymore.
