lately on my truck it seems to be spinning one tire a lot more around turns than before. is it going out? or is there some way i can adjust it to make it tighter or anything? when i go in a straight line it is fine but when i turn and punch it, i get a nice peg leg trail of smoke. is there anything i can do or do i need a new one?
thanks

the factory posi sucks, what is hapening to you is normal and the way to fix it is to upgrade to a better diferential. there are lots to choose from. do a search for g80, eaton, locker, powertrax.

Actually, the GM unit isn't really a true posi unit anyway, right? It's just some crap limited slip unit. That's pretty much why I didn't pay extra for it. I figure I'll get an Eaton unit when the time comes. They are great from what everyone says, plus you can rebuild them (if you need to).

Posi and limited slip are the same. I don't know why so many people think posi is better than limited slip. One guy around here who was going to install mine thought a posi was like a spool and told me to exchange it for a limited slip. I have heard that on the factory posi or "locker" as GM calls it the loose tire has to spin at least so many more mph before the clutches lock the other tire up.

Yeah, I think it's around something like 100rpm of wheel spin on one tire for the unit to lock. I'm kicking myself right now for not going with an Eaton and 3:73's.

well i know that im turning more RPMS than that because it doesnt even try to lock up when i am turning and the tires break loose. is there anything that i can put in there without haveing to pull the while thing apart? i know some detroit lockers dont replace the whoel unit but only the insides, and that can be done while its on the truck right?
