I have some 3rd degree burns on my hands from reaching into the fire
Hey F8L, if you have 3rd degree burns, you need to get them looked at NOW! Third degree is where the skin is black, charred and falling off. It doesn't hurt because you burned the nerve endings off, **** like you see in a movie when someone gets blown up. I've had second degree burns from an accident at work, a steam boiler blew up in my face. It wasn't the steam that knocked me on my *** and burned my face, it was the fire ball when the gas burner fucked up and blew the front doors partially off. Since I work in a hospital, I know quite a few people and got some real good information when I got burned. I was told that 2nd degree are the most painful and I can vouch for that. I wasn't really charred but I was blistered pretty bad and got alot of debris in my eyes, couldn't see for about a week. All is good now, skin and eyes weren't perminentally damaged. If you're burned that bad, get medical attention!!!

Jim,

I think there is only 3rd degree in a couple tiny spots on my finger tips where the skin is black and the skin was peeling off. The other spots are just 2nd degree i gues cuz they are blistered and in a couple spots the skin was rubbed off after it got hot from jammin my hands behind the intake area on god knows what. I have no health coverage so hospital is off limits as I totally cannot afford it after this turbo thing. Overall I will be fine. Just hard to type and don't have good use of my hand because everytime I brush it against something it hurt. Maybe I can take a couple pics of it so you can see how bad it's not and just how wussy i am

You're not a wussy, burns ******* hurt period! When I was in the ER at work and heard Trauma Team to the Trauma Room (which I've hear a thousand times) and I knew it was for me, I was scared shitless. First time in my life I've ever felt like that! When the ER docs where scrubbing the soot off of my face, it's was all I could do not to yell and I was so pumped full of Morphin my friends on the Trauma Team (RN's and Respiratory Therapist) were telling me to breath because I would just stopping breathing, bordering line OD. But when the Docs started scrubbing again, it hurt like a ****. I've been told that burns are the most painful thing you can have and I believe it after going through it. I was told that it was a good sign that I hurt so bad, that meant I had 2nd degree burns and not 3rd. So if all the spots hurt real bad, that's a good sign. Take care, hope you heal up well!

Sucks about your hands man, but good work on containing the fire quickly.

And altho i havent had 3rd degree burns, i can vouge 2nd degree burns hurt like f'n HELL! Last summer my friend had just gotten his 03 GSX-R1000 and after filling it up w/ oil he forgot to slap the fillercap back on the case. So i get a call about 20 min later "Hey, im comming into the shop. Grab my oil, and try and find a cap." I find both, and im waiting for him outside. He gets there, and has me sit on the bike being there's a clear window you can see into the crank case to make sure the oil is level. Well, to give him enough room i move my leg back about 1". BAD IDEA! Touched a titanium pipe, SOAKED in oil which was hotter than hell cause it was ran @ WOT.

Bike was fine, but my leg hurt like a bitch for probably 2 months. Im sure some other people will but I dont care. Its funny now, but god damn did it hurt like hell when it happend lol.
