Default F-body PCM in 04 Silverado?

I'm sick of dealing with the electronic throttle body setup. It's giving me fits with my cruise control (ever since I did the T56 swap). I want to go to a cable TB setup and was initially thinking 99-02 Silverado PCM. Then it hit me that by going to an F-body PCM, I would also pick up the reverse lockout solenoid, not to mention that the F-body PCMs are dirt cheap these days.

My thought was therefore to get an F-body PCM and the two PCM connectors, then rewire the truck harness to the correct pins on the F-body PCM. Then have the PCM flashed to show the correct VIN (to interface with the BCM and for scan purposes).

Any issues that can be thought of?

if your cruise control is surging try changing the VSS on the tail shaft. Mine was going out and would cause cruise to surge bad and at high speeds would trigger abs warnings.

Cruise isn't surging, it isn't work AT ALL.

It worked till Friday morning when I had to replace the clock spring/wiring harness (the spring broke causing the Air Bag to not function). After that, it didn't work anymore. I have checked all the wires and confirmed they are connected. Even checked the signals at the Throttle Control Module.

I can't find ANY reason why it shouldn't be turning on. Everything else in the truck is working fine.

Did you disconnect the battery when you replaced the clock spring? Something may need to relearn before the cruise will work. A bunch of weird stuff happened when I replaced my battery last time, and even weirder when I swapped PCM's a few times...

Nope, I didn't unhook the battery. Nothing was unhooked/changed/etc. other than the clock spring/steering column wiring harness. I have tested the wires coming from the cruise control switch (on, set, accelerate) and they are good (tested at the TAC module). It SHOULD be working, but isn't.

Still curious though if an F-body PCM could be used.

solved my issue. turns out when I installed a diode inline, I blocked the ground path the cruse needed to work.
