Well, that I am not sure of. How can I tell. I cannot reach the builder at this hour, and am wrecking my brain and patience. What I did notice is that there's a number "44" molded on the side of my trans case, and the number "34" is molded on the side of the new trans. Any difference?

i noticed the starter slot is larger on the new trans. if you said the input shafts are different chances are its an old model 4l60. maybe something that would work with SBC motors not LSXs

from what I was told by Randy, the 98-99 F-body trans is what he has (tail housing was truck, but the input shaft and bellhousing were incorrect), which is different from the 99+ trucks and 00+ F-body.

Question:

Are the internal electronics (wiring & connector pinouts) the same as the newer model 4L60Es? Seems that link has others with different comments. I have the 2-piece case, not the 1-piece. The bellhousings can be swapped without issue, but the input shaft & electronics are my concern. I cannot tell if there's a difference in splines (just hadn't counted them).

Took this from the web:

----------------------
The key distinction of the Later 4L60-E (1997-2006) from the Early 4L60-E (1992-1997) or 4L60 (1990-1992) or 700R4 (1982-1989) is the six-bolt "hex" rear output or tailhousing / adapter pattern. The previous versions featured a four-bolt square bolt pattern at the adapter or tailhousing. Additionally, the removeable bellhousing is also another distinguishing feature.
