exhaust resonating

ugh! the 1800 to 2400rpm......sounds like crap in my truck. I have the stock manifolds going a single 2 1/2 pipe to a 40 series Flowmaster. 1 in 2out. I used to have it all the way to the bumper turned down where u couldn't see it. I wanted a little deeper sound so i sawed both pipes about a foot after the muffler. sounds good at idle but the drone/resonating is there like i have a cutout. If i weld some turn-downs or side exit tips on will it help?

agreed, I have a rcsb stock manifolds and 2 1/2 pipe to the y and then its 3 inch back. I had a flowmaster single chamber on it with just a turndown after it, it souded great but the drone was too much, so i swapped it for a 24 inch magnaflow and kept the turndown. Now it really quiet at idle and cruising and when you stand on it it has a nice deep growl that sounds much better, not only that but absolutely no drone at any rpm. Now when I get on it Im not as worried about being such a cop catcher.

Can't go wrong with a Magnaflow IMO. I have ridden in quite a few cars and trucks with Magnaflow mufflers and none of them had a drone to them at any rpm.

Full body Magnaflows, I find don't drone, the flowmaster's are known to. I put a resonator in a flowmaster system once and it seemed to help. Didn't wuite it down much but took the highway 1900Rpm drone out. Resonates are cheap too, like $150 installed, doesn't need to be fancy.

Quiet idle inside cab. Lopey, musclecar sound exterior (idle)... WOT, will get you admirable eyes!
No resonance with the 24" muffler...
