Hey guys, i'd like to get your opinion on something. I've got a 00' GMC short bed reg. cab with a Flowmaster with a single Y-pipe (factory) going into one Flowmaster muffler, and dual out dual exhaust. The sound is okay. I've also got Edelbrok headers, not the best i know but what i could afford. I want to get a different exhaust setup with true duals or get rid of the Y-pipe and get a 2 in 2 out muffler. Will this offer me any advantages sound wise and performance wise. I would love to run true duals all the way back with no cats, but i live in a city where emissions are checked and don't think it would pass without them. Any suggestions on what i should do or what u have done would be appreciated.
Thanks
Thanks

i haven't done much exhaust work, but if you run true duals, i think most guys install an X or H pipe to get some more of the backpressure they lost. it should sound alot better. if you do it right, you can get some performance gains out of it. i'll stop here and let more guys with this type of exhaust experience chime in

Ive had 7 different exhausts on my truck. I finaly got one i was happy with, but now i want to change it again. Currently i have headers, no cats, and dual in/out mellow tone muffler. It sounds like an old muscle car. When i punch it i get chills. It sounds mean as hell to me. The exhaust that gave me the best track times were 3.5 inch glass packs, but that was way to loud and sounded like ***. Magnaflow has a dual in/out muffler that i want to get now. The worst exhaust i had was Flowmaster. I lost .6 in the 1/4!
Anyway, most dual in/out mufflers are basicaly a 3" muffler inside. Performance wise you would get the same power gain with your Y-pipe and 3" pipe, going through a good highflow muffler.

What test they do there, probe or computer. If they do comp.you can eliminate the cats with O2 Simulator
.As for exhaust magnaflow is really good, but I preffer dynomax sound
2 single in - single out with an X pipe.
