Default exhaust manifold question

i just bought a new 2006 chevy crew cab 6.0l i was looking at the passenger side of the manifold and it looks like there is a crack between the 2nd and 3rd spark plug... i took it to the dealer and they told me its suppose to be like that cause of heat reasons. can someone tell me is this is true or not..
thanks

Are you looking at the heat shield or the actual surface of the manifold?

When I swapped mine out for the dynatechs I believe I noticed that on one of mine too, don't remember which side though. It was in the middle on the flange like you are describing.

They are ALL like that and nothing to worry about. Thats why there is a bolt on both sides of it. It was planned.
