Exhaust Leak
#1
I installed my OBX headers a week ago, and I have an exhaust leak at both clamps supplied by OBX and one more at the clamp on the passenger side pipe just ahead of the muffler ( I'm assuming this is a stock clamp but not sure because the truck already had a catback exhaust when I got it)
So my question is what is the best thing to use to seal the leaks? I would rather not weld the joints together just in case I have to ever take the pipes out.
Thanks

Ya I didnt think about that, but something like that will probably be my last resort. I want to keep it fairly simple for now, but if nothing simple works I will be willing to do just about anything just to get rid of the annoying noise it makes.
BTW thanks for the help

chevytruckguy, i think that the clamps you are talking about are the same ones as 2 of the 3 clamps that I have on right now.
Is there some kind of chemical that I can put on it that will work for a while until I get time to mess with the v-bands? Or for that matter, one that might work permanently?

Are these what you have? http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku
I'd be surprised if you have those and they leak. I have them on my pacesetter ory and there are no leaks.
Looked up some obx headers, and if they're used, the clamps might be stretched or bent. You can try new clamps, or put a thin aluminum/steel sheet around the joint then clamp around it for right now. As far as a sealant, you could try high temp copper rtv, but it might just burn up. If new clamps dont do it, v bands might be the fix.

Ya, I have the ones that OBX sent, which are basically the same except the area where they bolt together is just slightly diffrent. But ya I too was surprised that they were leaking in addition to the one already on the truck.
